Dharana Capital Closes $250 Million Growth Fund to Back Next-Gen Tech and Consumer Startups
Indian growth-stage investment firm Dharana Capital has successfully closed its second growth fund with a corpus of $250 million, signaling renewed investor confidence in India’s technology and consumer startup ecosystem. The fundraising effort comes nearly four years after the firm’s first $160 million growth fund in 2022.
The firm, which has offices in Bengaluru and Dubai, plans to deploy capital across 8–10 high-potential companies that are building scalable, durable business models in tech, consumer services, and digital platforms. Dharana Capital’s portfolio already includes notable names such as Urban Company, Zomato, LAT Aerospace, Pet Pooja, Vyapar, Itilite, Botlab/Vayudh and Beyond Appliances.
Strategic Vision and Market Confidence
Speaking about the new fund, Vamsi Duvvuri, Founder and Managing Partner of Dharana Capital, emphasized the firm’s long-term commitment to backing founders on their journey toward building large, standalone listed businesses. He noted that India’s listed technology market capitalization is poised for significant expansion over the next decade, driven by the maturation of new-age enterprises and a strengthening IPO pipeline.
The additional $250 million brings Dharana Capital’s assets under management (AUM) to approximately $450 million, bolstered by a diverse base of global limited partners including U.S. university endowments, healthcare institutions, and other non-profit organizations.
Focus on Founder-Led Growth and Public Markets
Unlike many venture funds that invest at early stages, Dharana’s growth strategy targets mid- to late-stage companies that demonstrate profitability potential and the ability to evolve into publicly listed firms. This focus aligns with a broader theme in India’s private capital market — where investors increasingly prioritize unit economics, operational fundamentals, and pathways to sustainable scale over high-burn growth models.
The firm also emphasizes its long-term partnership approach, working closely with founders to strengthen corporate governance, improve financial performance, and prepare portfolio companies for public market entry when the timing is right.
Significance in India’s Startup Ecosystem
Dharana Capital’s fundraise underscores the resilience and dynamism of India’s startup financing landscape. Despite global market uncertainties, India’s growth-stage investment environment remains active, with capital flowing into both technology-led innovations and consumer-oriented business models that address domestic demand while targeting global markets.
With this new funding vehicle, Dharana Capital is well-positioned to support the next generation of category-defining companies and contribute to India’s evolution as a hub for scalable, sustainable technology and consumer enterprises.
